Sites we like

Welcome to the site. We've masquereded under many names, names you won't know unless you're a diehard fan of the Moviestud and Longfellow. Anyway we established the site to warn people of bad movies. We had seen a lot of movies that got good reviews from the critics but aren't necessarily entertaining. The shining examples were Black Hawk Down and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the former too much action and very little plot development, and the latter too much plot and too short of a runtime. We decided it was time to do something about this social ill of critics recommending boring movies. Thus we birthed the site. On this site you will see recommendations for the types of movies that critics like, but only if the means to the end aren't lame (the story is captivating and the end worthwhile). We will also recommend movies that critics dump on, like 2003's Basic, not necessarily a life changing movie but at the same time wholly entertaining. So now that you know what you're in store for by all means click here and go read the news and snippets of our most recent reviews.
So you know about the site now, but you want to know about the authors. We don't know why you would want that but in case you do...

Moviestud: I'm the founder of the site, most of what I contribute you will never see. I write the code, I tweak the pages, I make the images (except the posters for the movies of course) but I'll occassionaly write a review or two. I am more a go-for than a journalist, Longfellow is the journalist of the site. That's what I do for the site, but what do I do for me. As of Fall semester 2003 I am a Freshman at the Florida State University (yanno the team that can't beat Miami for the life of 'em but can put a hurt on the Gators). I'm currently an Education major but that's going to change quickly, don't know what I'm going to change to otherwise it would have already changed. I'm part of the Film Committee at my school. We're a group that decides what movies are shown in the student movie theatre. That's pretty much all about school. I hail from a happy little arts town south of Tampa. Every year, for the past six years, we have a film festival that draws a respectable amount of stars and films. I went to my first one of these this year, and will probably go again in years to come. The town, as I said, is heavy on the arts, we have at least four playhouses, three movie theatres, and a ballett and opera house. It was probably this influence that got me interested in film. Whatever it was since I've had my driver's license I have gone to at least one movie a week, and now I spend more money on DVDs than food, however sad you deem that to be. That's all their is to me, I'm a simple, movie-lovin' man.

Longfellow: I'm what you would call the vice president of the site. I heard about this page from Stud and thought, "Hey I like movies, this could be fun." The site was really born out of our weekly trips to the theater, starting in May 2001 when we saw the Mummy Returns. As said above, I'm more of the journalist of the site, I'll write the majority of news, reviews, and so on. The name is just a double meaning, you figure it out for yourself. Well now that you kind of know my history with the site, how bout my personal history. I'm currently at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville(because UF is a tough school to get into and I didn't want to go anywhere else). I don't have a major as of yet, but Film or Computer Graphics are my leading candidates. I was born in Jersey, lived in Philly for the early years of my life, before settling down in that small town that Stud mentioned previously. I've lived there for about 14 years of my life. I've been a movie and game "geek" for pretty much my whole life(although I don't consider myself that geeky) and my career will probably have something to do with film and I've got this site to thank for that.
